Itinerary

Day 1 - 40 km - Cycle southwest down one of the peninsulas in Lake Taihu to Dongshan and visit the Purple Gold Nunnery and gardens.

Day 2 - 60 km - Take a ferry to the south shore and then cycle to Tongxian along mostly country roads, then take transport to Hangzhou crossing the Grand Canal along the way. In Hangzhou visit the Temple of Inspired Seclusion and West Lake in the evening.

Day 3 - 60 km - Take transport 35 km west to Yuanjia and then cycle to the Tianmu Nature Reserve renown for ancient forest of Ginko and huge Gold Coin pine.

Day 4 - 31 km - Cycle to Lin'an and take bus transport to Shanghai.

Total Cycling Distance: Approximately 117 miles (191 km): Average distance per ride day: 29 miles (48 km) Cycling will be supplemented with vehicle transport on some days to reach the next destination.

Climate: The best time of year is the spring and fall.

Group Size: 1-8

Accommodations will be basic Chinese hotels generally of the 1-3 star variety. It may be necessary to use a no-star hotel.

Prices are for double-occupancy rooms and include the following:

1. Bilingual bicycle tour guide.
2. All hotel room accommodations (double occupancy) for three nights.
3. Meals eaten as group (private meals, snacks and alcoholic beverages are not included).
4. All group transportation costs including a support vehicle.
5. All group entrance fees.
6. Rental bike is included.

This will be a vehicle-supported ride.

If you decide to do something on your own, you will be responsible for those costs.

A deposit of $500 per person is required. This is fully refundable up to 45 days prior to the start of the tour. Submission of a deposit will guarantee your place on the tour. Balance is due at least 45 days prior to the beginning of the tour and payable by credit card, wire transfer, or personal check.
