Bike Tour Route Map

Located in the tropical border area with Myanmar (Burma) this eight-day tour will explore the small colorful villages of the Dai, Bulang, Lahu and Hani minorities.

The tour begins and ends in Kunming, the capital of Yunnan province. This guided bicycle tour is self-supported; cyclists will carry their gear in panniers on the bikes. The tour is designed as a moderate ride. Average daily cycling mileage will be about 55 km or 33 miles. This tour will appeal to those who have cultural, social and geographical interests and will visit both well-known and little-known sights.

Beginning with a short 40-minute flight from Kunming to Jinghong, we pass from a teaming metropolis to the laid-back town of Jinghong in the center of Xishuangbanna. It is from here that we will base our explorations into the small villages in the outlying areas. Much of the tour will be spontaneous visits to villages found along the way with plenty of time to soak up the local flavor and culture.

At the end of the tour, the group will return to Kunming and spend two half-days exploring the area visiting Yuantong Temple, East and West Pagodas, and Green Lake City Park.
